The Romanian school book flew up in the air along with a long sigh.
“Two weeks… just two more weeks…” a soft girl voice spoke from somewhere under a huge pile of books.
Some notebooks followed their way down on the floor next to the book. Two big, brown eyes gazed out the window but the way too hot sun made them to quickly shut, followed up by a new regretful sigh:
“C’mon, Chi! You can do this! Two more weeks and then it’s all over! You’ll be free to fly where you desire, she smirked easily gathering all of her hair in a small pony tail. She stretched her foot to fetch the book from the floor and she reluctantly browsed it.
“Ah… but why it’s so hot today?” she quietly whined rolling her eyes all around the room. Her unpleased look changed into a quiet smile. From one of her walls a cute Asian guy smiled back at her. There weren’t many pictures of him, just a few in front of her PC, but every time she hit her eyes on them, she felt her heart jumping in joy and she was ready to face anything in the world.
“Anio!” she shortly shook her head and she started reading out loud from the school book. In a few sentences a happy ringtone made her startle. ‘Ringga ringga ring ringga ga tun...’ the phone kept on ringing as she just pretended she couldn’t hear it.
“Aish!” she rolled her eyes “what does she want now?... Yes?” she finally decided to answer the call.
“Hey! What you’re doin`?” a thin voice asked from the other end.
“Counting stars. What do you think I’m doing? Studying…” she said in a long sigh.
“C’mon girl! You want to finish off with an A+ ?” the voice laughed.
“I wouldn’t mind” she said in the same mood. “Really now… it’s so less time left until the final exam… What do you want?” she wanted to discreetly bash on this tempting phone call.
“Just wanted to know if you’ll join us… You know, you need some time off, too.”
“Where? When?”
“Two hours. In the club…”
“Don’t know… But I highly doubt it…”
“Oh c’mon! you’ll turn grey if you read more. As they say one does not simply cram it …”
“I’m not cramming anything!” Chichi spoke a little louder than she meant. “I don’t have time today… Maybe tomorrow…” she decided to turn off the phone, but not before hearing the voice saying that she’ll visit her later on.
“Mom!!” she yelled suddenly. “If Ralu comes over, tell her you sent me off to grandma to bring her food, ok?” she said while gathering all the books and notebooks in a neat pile. It was enough studying for today, so it was time to end it. She threw her eyes out of the window again. What? When did it get dark? Where did the time flew? She slowly walked towards her PC and turned it on. From above it, the cute Korean smiled with confidence and next to it she could read, written in red handwriting : ‘Taeyang, fighting! You can do this!’ surrounded by 14 little hearts.
“I really need you sometimes…” she whispered slowly caressing the picture.
“…really need you…” a soft voice said and the brown almond eyes burst out open. Taeyang stared at the excessively white ceiling. He would’ve wanted to move, but the delicate touch on his face just cut off any reaction from his body.
He just rolled his eyes around
looking for the owner of this warm touch, but he couldn’t find it. Someone called
his name from behind the white door and he regained the control over his body
and he jumped out of the bed as quick as he could.
“Young Bae, c’mon! We’re gonna be late…” he could recognize his
friend’s voice.
“I’ll… I’ll be right out…” he answered mostly mumbling.
In less than five minutes he left his room all dressed up and ready
for a new day.
“ ’Mornin…” SeungRi said in a very sleepy voice.
“Good morning!” he answered with a warm smile.
All the other guys were already gathered around the table. How did
this happened? He got up AFTER JiYong??
“Are you OK?” … it looked like the others thought the same thing when
JiYong left his seat to offer it to him.
“Yeah, why?” he kept on his warm smile, pretending he doesn’t
understand the question. “So… it’s been decided where we’re gonna shoot the
next video?...” he tried to discreetly move the conversation away from his
persona.
“Yes” SeungHyun answered sensing Taeyang’s intentions. “I heard
talking about Budapest or something… JiYong-Ah?”
“Yes, that’s right! We’ll fly off tomorrow and we’ll be back by
Monday…”
“Aish… what a dull weather…” Chichi said absentmindedly stepping on
every puddle she could find on her way. She was squishing a couple of thick
books with squares and triangles on them and long rows of numbers. “After I’m
done with this I swear I won’t touch a book for the rest of my… summer!” she
muttered to herself as she was approaching an ugly, grey apartment building.
A soft melody dragged her away from her numbness; it was a pleasant
song, and somehow familiar. She understood it was a ringtone so she hurried to
find its owner… It couldn’t possibly be guy next to that window shop… but he
was the only breathing soul around! She felt her steps getting quicker as if
something pulled her towards that direction. She peeped at his reflection in
the window; his clothing made him look like he was out of this world… Yes, OK,
it might’ve rained a little but still, this was the month of June, so his black
outfit was completely out of the ordinary. In a few more silent steps she
reached him.
“Yeobuseyo?” he answered getting his phone out, without even noticing
her.
“Where the hell are you?!? You’ve gone missing seven hours ago!!” he
could hear an angry voice at the other side. He was getting ready his answer
when a pair of white foot-plates stepped in the puddle next to him, splashing
around.
He raised his head and Chichi felt the ground melting and swallowing
her. She quickly lowered her eyes even if to check that her legs were still in
the right place.
“…Really need you…” a whisper suddenly flew around and before any of
them could react, a loud thunder made them both to close their eyes for a split
of a second.
He opened his mouth to speak but a very agitated voice cut him off:
“Young Bae! Young Bae!?? You there?? What happened? What was that
noise? Where are you, Young Bae?!” JiYong fluttered at the other end of the
line.
Chichi’s eyes flooded and her hands started shaking. She wouldn’t let
anyone to see her like this, especially THAT ANYONE so she turned around and
stepped three times before someone grabbed her shoulder. She rolled to face
him, but it wasn’t him who grabbed her; his hands were still clenched on the
white, thin cellphone.
“Young Bae-Ah! Tell me where you are! I’m coming for you, right now!...”
JiYong’s voice cut the awkward silence.
Chichi’s eyes stuck on him again; she would’ve wanted to speak, to say
anything but she just couldn’t convince her lips to move.
‘Ringga ringga ring ringga ga tun, Ringga ringga ring ringga ga tun...’
could be heard all of a sudden. Taeyang’s eyes almost popped out as she
shivered from the bottom of her heart and slowly checked the appellant’s name. Her
hand started its way up to her ear in a mechanical move and all she could say
was a lost “Mm…” follower by a trembling “Mom… I’m on my way to…”. She raised
her head to get one last glance at him, but she couldn’t do it anymore since he
seemed to step away from her quite fast, splashing around.
“Romania, Bucharest…” Taeyang quickly answered to the rough voice from
inside his phone, before he turned to watch that girl one more time.
‘…Need you…’ wondered around in his mind again and odd shivers came
down his spine… He knew he wasn’t moving but somehow the ground beneath him
felt like moving. He shook his head and stuffed the phone inside his jeans. Something
caught the corner of his eye and he twisted around to check it up in the
window-shop. He startled a little thinking that the girl it’s still following
him when he saw her eyes looking back at him. He shook his head several times, blinking away
this image, but another one, as crazy as that one, replaced it. Strange letters
begun flowing around and finally landed on a white piece of paper.
‘Sin? … Cos?...’ he thought a short while about the meaning of these
letters when a really squeaky voice made him look up.
“Miss, are you even listening to me?!” the woman in front of him
seamed to get really angry, judging by the eyebrows gathering towards the point
of her nose.
He lowered his eyes to watch once again the white sheet of paper.
“I don’t…” he hardly started talking, but instantly shut it. “I
don’t…” he tried to speak again.
“What?” the frowned woman started losing her patience. “What are you
mumbling there, young lady?!” she raised her voice even more when she heard
that unknown language.
“But I don’t…” Taeyang made a third attempt to speak when his hands
started trembling on the white sheet.
He just rolled his eyes around
looking for the owner of this warm touch, but he couldn’t find it. Someone called
his name from behind the white door and he regained the control over his body
